Let me put my cards on the table here. I was furious when President Obama went to Europe and apologized for American "arrogance". The nations of Europe are free because tens of thousands of young men gave the best years of their lives- and as you'll see in these stirring photographs- gave everything, period, to liberate Europe from Nazi tyranny. We have helped keep them safe through the Cold War and the nuclear age. We have rushed aid in great abundance when natural disaster strikes. Every picture tells a story- and these pictures tell one of the ultimate sacrafice, for the greatest gift of all- liberty.

I was wondering about the number of Americans buried in the two cemetaries in England. At first I wondered why there were so many deaths there. It is probably due to the training deaths in preparation for the Normandy invasion, plus those who died as a result of illness or accident, plus those Army Air Force personnel who returned from their missions either dead already or near death.
